Cowichan Neighbourhood House is asking Cowichan Valley residents to adopt a family this Christmas.

Last year, their Christmas Hamper program helped 115 families, with an average of four people per family, making sure that these folks had a gift under the tree and a Christmas dinner and breakfast.

“These are families who can use a hand to make their Christmas and holiday season a happier experience.

This is especially vital in the Cowichan Valley, as the BC Child Poverty Report Card (2015) ranked our valley as having the highest rate of children and youth living in poverty in B.C., tied with Port Alberni,” said an appeal to sign up to help out.

You can choose to give at any level you are comfortable with. You can sponsor a whole family, or donate a gift, food of make a cash donation.

Gifts must be dropped off at 9806 Willow St., Chemainus on or before Thursday, Dec. 15.
