Valley foodies enjoyed the Dinner in White at Kilrenny Farm on Aug. 14.

Susan Stitt reports that the fifth annual Cittaslow Dinner in White, left, was a great success when it was held on Sunday, Aug. 14.

More than 150 people seated themselves at one long, curving table at Kilrenny Farm to celebrate community and the slow of everything for this leisurely event.

“The tents on the knoll above housed dozens of communal food dishes brought by everyone, wines from Cherry Point Estate Wines, Venturi-Schulze Vineyards and Averill Creek gleamed on the tables and the charcoal barbecues prepared fresh wild salmon from Cowichan Bay Seafoods and farmers chicken sausages from Island Farmhouse Poultry.

“Great music rolled across the field from Genevieve Charbonneau and her instrumental string band, The Twisted Vines, “ she said.
