VIDEO: Unique Swedish-Canadian duo, Thus Owls, is coming to the Hub

Their specially blended sound is featured in an intimate concert.

Barely North Entertainment is excited to bring Thus Owls for a rare intimate show at the HUB at Cowichan Station, in Duncan on Thursday, June 22.

This is a “can’t miss” concert event, organizer Andrew S. Brown says, adding, “The mesmerizing and dark velvet sounding Thus Owls is built around the core of Swedish-Canadian couple Erika and Simon Angell. Simon’s harshly charismatic guitar blends with the urgency of Erika’s vocals to create a sound that bends and stretches their unusual compositions into ever newer and surprising shapes.”

Unique is the word for their collaboration. Listen to them and you’ll see. (Head to cowichanvalleycitizen.com for a taste of their sound.)

Simon is the former guitar player for Patrick Watson, with whom he played numerous top stages internationally. Thus Owls have received critical acclaim from the Wall Street Journal, Q Magazine, CBC Music, Voir, and NPR Music. They will be featured at this year’s Montreal Jazz Festival.

Doors will open at 7 p.m., and the show will start at 7:30 p.m.

General admission tickets are $20, available at Duncan Music and online at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/thus-owlsan-evening-at-the-hub-tickets-34474587419, and at the door if there are any left.

The HUB is located at 2375 Koksilah Rd., Duncan
