Crash near Duncan kills 56-year-old Duncan man

A collision on March 14 between two vehicles on the TransCanada Highway at Mays Road claimed the life of a 56-year-old Duncan man.

A collision at Mays Road and the Trans Canada Highway claimed the life of a Duncan man Tuesday evening.

A collision on March 14 between two vehicles on the TransCanada Highway at Mays Road claimed the life of a 56-year-old Duncan man.

Officers from the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP responded to the intersection at approximately 6:40 p.m.

The accident involved a 2005 Toyota Tundra driven by the deceased.

The second vehicle, a 2016 Ford Fusion, was operated by a 56 year-old Ladysmith woman. She

remains in a Victoria hospital with significant injuries.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation, but, according to witnesses, the Tundra was south bound and turning left onto Mays Road from the Trans Canada highway and the Ford Fusion was north bound on the highway.

An RCMP traffic reconstructionist, BC Ambulance Service, and the North Cowichan Volunteer Fire Department attended the scene.

The RCMP and the BC Coroner's Office are continuing their investigation of the incident, and the victim's name will be released at a later date.
