Members of North Cowichan’s South End volunteer fire department had to put down a small bonfire on Mount Prevost on Tuesday night.

One officer and one firefighter from the hall attended the fire around 9 p.m. with a small water tanker. Three firefighters from the Coastal Fire Centre who happened to be in the area also heard the call and showed up to help out.

South End fire chief Scott Henning said there was no danger of the fire spreading. No charges will be laid in relation to the fire.
