During the early evening on Aug. 19, North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP responded to a robbery at Hank’s Handi-Mart on Canada Avenue.

The suspect produced a weapon, and after being met with resistance by staff, he fled the scene.

Staff were not injured, however, the suspect may have sustained a blunt force injury on his arm.

The suspect was described as being a white man, approximately 6 feet tall, with short hair and wearing a black balaclava.

A few hours later, police responded to another robbery at the Liquor Depot on Cowichan Way.

The suspect produced a weapon, and after making demands to staff, he fled the scene with several stolen items.

The suspect was wearing a blue hoodie, half face mask, sunglasses, and black shorts with a grey stripe; he was carrying a bag.

The suspect(s) was not located in either robbery.

“Given the time frames and multiple similarities we suspect it is the same person but this cannot be confirmed at this time,” said Cpl. Kiel Pharis, North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP.

“We are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect(s).”

Anyone with information relating to these offences is asked to contact North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522 or Crime Stoppers at cowichancrimestoppers.com.
