With great sorrow, we announce the quiet passing of Antonio Scroccaro on June 22, 2017. Born in 1933, Antonio met his beloved wife Rina while bike-riding in the Alps. In 1961, Tony and Rina settled in Chemainus where they raised their family and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Tony was known as a good man with a big heart and an amazing spirit. Tony was a most devoted husband, and the best dad ever for whom family was everything. When not working as a Machinist, Tony spent his time with family and friends. He always looked forward to his morning walks around town and visits with all the wonderful folks at the post office, bank, pharmacy, and other places. He was an outdoors enthusiast hiking around the island, working in his garden, playing in bocce tournaments, and travelling with Rina. Tony loved being a soccer coach, and enjoyed helping in the community whenever needed, most recently with the bingos at the Chemainus Health Care Centre. He was also very fond of his kind neighbors at Station Ridge. Tony was predeceased by his son Michael (1983), and his beloved wife Rina (2015). He leaves behind his daughter Louise, brothers Armando and Angelo, nieces and nephews including Diane McMahon (Barry), and friends. Thank you to Dr. Manhas for his outstanding care over the years along with the doctors and nurses at the Cowichan District Hospital for their compassionate, round-the-clock care. A big thank you to family, friends, and my neighbors for their love and support.

A funeral service will be held for Antonio on Friday, June 30 at 11:00 am at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church (9735 Elm Street, Chemainus) with reception to follow just down the road at the Mount Breton Golf Course (2816 Henry Road) where Tony loved to walk with his daughter and Jesse every day. In lieu of flowers, the family would deeply appreciate donations to the Cowichan District Hospital to support the building of the new facility.
