Cheryl Darlene Saunders passed away peacefully on August 24, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. Cheryl was born on April 18, 1957 in Chemainus, B.C and lived there until the age of 19. She was a gentle soul who believed in a higher power: love and light. Her purpose in this life was to bring peace, happiness, and healing to herself and those around her. Cheryl was an exceptional cook and loved to feed friends and family. She adored her mini-dachshunds, and had an unconventional sense of style that would put a smile on your face. Cheryl’s Reiki practice brought her peace and strength as she prepared for the next life over the past year. She wanted nothing more than to be surrounded by positive energy, and that is what she had during her journey from the physical to spiritual world. She gave a gift of healing words to four generations of family members who had the honour of being with her as she got her wings. Cheryl sends you all blessings, love, and light. Cheryl is predeceased by her mother Jeanette and lovingly remembered by her father Charles; partner, Collin; children, Charles, Brandy, and Stacey (Jonathan); siblings Margaret (Dave, Jordon, Gina, Rachelle), Toni (Al, Brandon), Greg (Mary, Chris, Doug, Darren), and Rod (Sydney, Vaughn). Cheryl was “Mountain Grandma” to Andrew, Gregory, Draidon, Memphis, Autumn, Brooke, Alissa, Hailey, Isabella and Paige. A small celebration of life will be held at her favorite place in the mountains later in September. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nanaimo Community Hospice Society (1080 St.George Crescent, Nanaimo, BC V9S 1X1).
