It is with great sadness that the family of David Alan Lee announces his passing on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the age of 54. David died peacefully, surrounded by his family, after a brief battle with cancer.

David was born on December 21, 1962 in Edmonton, Alberta. He spent most of his childhood growing up in the small town of Vanderhoof. Here he developed many lifelong friendships. After moving to the Island in 1987, David settled in Duncan, B.C.. David spent several years in retail, where he touched the lives of many with his outgoing, friendly personality. In both his work and personal life, David was known for his kindness and willingness to help anyone. He was also known for his quick wit and sense of humour. He was the master of one liners.

David is lovingly remembered by his wife, Jacquie, and his daughter Kaitlyn who was the pride of his life, as well as his large extended families. David was a true family man. He is predeceased by his father and mother, Doug and Doris Lee. David is also lovingly remembered by the many dear friends he has made over the years.

David’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the many family and friends that helped care for him during his illness. This allowed him to spend his final days in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the people he loved. Many thanks to Dr. Rimmer, the staff at both Cowichan and Royal Jubilee hospitals, the Victoria Cancer Clinic, Cowichan Home/Nursing Care and David’s personal A-team for their support in David’s treatment. The family would also like to sincerely thank everyone who supported them in so many ways, from bringing meals to being a shoulder to lean on. The kindness of everyone was truly overwhelming and so greatly appreciated. It made a difficult time so much easier to bear.

David’s wish was to be honoured through a Celebration of Life. The family will be hosting an informal drop in Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 1-3 at the Maple Bay Yacht Club. We hope this will give people a chance to share memories with family and friends.
