Flora passed away peacefullly at the age of 98, on Tuesday, December 20, at Cairnsmore Place, where she was a long time resident. She was predeceased by her husband Adolf and son Ray. Survived by: Wilfred Doerges, Dorothy Cantin, John Funk and Carole Gregson, along with their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Flora was born in Rosenfeld, Ukraine, near the Black Sea, and later immigrated to Canada with her son John after the war in 1950.
She later married Adolf Doerges and blended two families in 1951 at Duncan, BC. They bought their farm on Westholme Road in 1959 and spent many happy years raising animals and gardening.
Flora worked for the Department of Forestry in silvaculture for over 25 years, retiring in 1983.
They spent many woderful winters in Hawaii and traveled often to Alberta and Europe to visit relatives.
Mom’s greatest joy in life was her care, love and compassion for her families.
A celebration of life will be held in the Spring.
