Gary Scott, a long time resident of the Cowichan Valley died suddenly at home at the age of 71 with his loving wife of 44 1/2 years at his side and Lola, his devoted pet comforting him until the end.

He was born on May 3, 1945 to Pat and Jack Scott and had three younger brothers, Terry, Fred and Corey. He attended school in Victoria and worked as an electrician for over 50 years ending his career with Western Pacific Enterprises as a site Superintendent in 2012.

Gary loved his wife Sheila for 48 1/2 years. He was an extra special father figure to Lana and Bill Hebert and was an exceptionally wonderful, kind, generous and loving extra grandfather to Kandice and Nicole Hebert.

Gary’s interests were fishing, camping, travelling, curling, watching his favourite team the Montreal Canadians and of course the love of his family who meant the world to him.

Gary was predeceased by his mother Pat, his father Jack and his brother Corey. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Sheila, his special family, Lana, Bill, Kandice and Nicole Hebert (Moose Jaw, SK), his brother Terry Scott (Renee), his brother Fred Scott (Johnena) along with numerous nieces and nephews as well as extended family members and relatives.

Thank you to Dr. Reimer, Gary’s long time physician along with the nurses who have cared for him over the years. Thank you to the EMS team and Constable Scott McArthur for your quick response, your exceptional efforts and kindness. We also thank Ulla and Mike Williams for their friendship and their emotional support during this very difficult time. We cannot express our heartfelt thanks enough, to everyone who has called or sent flowers and messages.

There will not be a service for Gary at his request. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
