Gary Keith Weismiller, 85 of Duncan, BC passed away March 5, 2017 at home.

Gary is survived by his wife Betty of 63 years; son Douglas (Kathy) Weismiller; daughters Shelley (Ray) Lockhart and Carol (Glen) Smith; 6 grandchildren Eric, Angela, Amy, Kevin, Dustin and Elena and 4 great grandchildren Kiera, Nathan, Norah and Lily. As well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Gary was born September 14, 1931. He lived his whole life here in the Cowichan Valley growing up in the Weismiller family home on Gibbins Rd. On October 23, 1953 he married Betty Morgan of Cedar, BC.

He was a machinist by trade and worked for many years at Duncan Iron Works. After his retirement many in the community sought after his skills and he continued to work many more years from home. He served the community for many years as a dedicated member of the Duncan volunteer fire department, even taking on the roll as assistant chief.

Gary loved music; it was a huge part of his life! He was a very talented trombone and saxophone player. He played with many bands from his youth right up to his senior years. Playing with the Showboat Five being his greatest musical joy.

Gary enjoyed life. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, 1:00 pm at Duncan United Church.
