Hans Peter Hansen, 94, of Duncan, died August 7, 2017. Peter was born July 19, 1923 in Denmark and immigrated to Canada in 1949 at the age of 26. Peter worked on several farms in the area as well as construction jobs and in the logging industry. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with grandchildren, either from his cabin in Valemont, B.C. or simply spending the day in Maple Bay near Duncan.

However, his real passion was his garden. Peter grew a variety of vegetables and fruit, but his specialty was potatoes. He generously shared his bounty with friends and neighbors whenever possible. This was natural to him as he treasured their company and friendship. He was known as a warm and friendly man, and a great story teller.

Peter was preceded in death by his loving friend and partner, Anna Hansen. He is survived by his niece, Anne Marie Jorgensen (Knud Erik), and her children. He also leaves behind Anna’s two daughters; Karin Billings of Chula Vista, California and Lissi Hemstalk of Sechelt, B. C., five grandchildren; Rocky (Sherry), Vicki (Johnny), Danny (Darla), Jim (Ruth), and Debbie (Manuel), nine great- grandchildren; Mindy, Kristy, Candice, Therin, Jenna-May, Zaena, Zachariah, Dean and Vivian, and five great -great—grandchildren.
