Herb Newberry, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Cerwydden Care Home in Duncan, BC. He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years Marjorie (1987) and brother Victor of London, ON. Herb is survived by his partner of 28 years, Vancine Wilson of Duncan, BC; son David (Connie) of Spruce Grove, AB; granddaughters Rebecca of Melbourne, Australia and Callie of Spruce Grove, AB; and daughters Joanne (Lorne) and Heather (Rob) of Vancouver, BC. Herb was born in Toronto, ON where he worked as a Merchant Marine, a Truck Driver and an Aircraft Fitter with Avro Canada. He found his true home on Vancouver Island, moving with Marge and their children in 1967. Herb worked as a Longshoreman (Local 508) at Stuart Channel Wharves in Crofton, BC for 25 years. He loved the sun and spent many vacations in Hawaii, Mexico, California and Arizona. Herb was an avid sports fisherman and outdoorsman who enjoyed saltwater fishing, boating, hunting and camping. His family thanks the staff at Cerwydden for their kind and compassionate care for Herb. As per Herb’s request there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson Society of BC in Herb’s memory would be greatly appreciated.
