It is with deepened sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Eastman our “GG”.

Born October 3rd, 1921 in Toronto, Ontario. Passed away peacefully on February 13th 2017, at CDH, at age 95.

Joan is survived by her granddaughter Jenny Gyorfi (Travis) and her Great-granddaughter Sarah of Raymore Saskatchewan, and by her Great-granddaughter Samantha Williams of Ladysmith, BC. Her Sister Janet Moore and Nieces, Joan Ellen and Barbra Eastman. Her Nephew Douglas and Great Nephew Adam.

Joan was predeceased by her Parents Kenneth Wallace in 1957 and her mother Donalda Wallace in 1986. Joan was also predeceased by her loving Husband Dick Eastman in 2000 and just last year her one and only child Carol Eastman in 2016.

GG was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. In April 1942 at age 21 she married Dick and the adventures began. When Dick returned from war, his job gave them the privilege of living as far as Montreal and as close as Vancouver. May 1, 1954 Carol was born and joined them in their travels until they finally settled in Regina, Saskatchewan. May 23, 1975 Joan welcomed her first and only granddaughter Jenny. Eventually Joan and Dick would retire to Vancouver Island where they would stay. At a young age Jenny came to live with Joan and Dick. Joan raised Jenny; she was truly like a mother to her. Then on December 13, 1995 Joan would welcome her first Great granddaughter Samantha. These two became inseparable for the remainder of her years. October 23, 2007 Joan welcomed her second Great granddaughter Sarah.

Joan was a creative soul, as a young child was trained in classical piano and later in life became quite the painter; she had a love for all the arts. She was an avid reader and a very intellectual women. She was a lover of nature and of animals. She was a generous woman who took great deal of pride in taking care of her family and being a dedicated wife to Dick. She had many amazing friends that she cherished. Joan will be missed by all that knew her.
