Josephine Young, age 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 23, 2017.

Josie/Jo was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 25, 1933 and was a resident of Duncan, BC for most of her adult life.  She was the daughter of the late Isabel Alonzo and Jesse Alonzo of Leon, Guanajato, Mexico.

She was preceded in death by brothers Peter and Raymond, both of Chicago, also sister Rosalie of Cleveland, Tennessee.

Survivors include sisters Elizabeth Scarp (Arcoline) of Canton, Ohio, Mary Guzman of Richmond, Texas, Jennie Williams (Jim) of The Villages, Florida, Helen Hardison (Claude) of Cleveland, Tennessee, brother Anthony (Zona) of Dayton Ohio, and ex-husband Steve Young of Duncan, BC.

Josie/Jo had been a resident of Cairnsmore Place since her stroke in February, 2016. Her family and friends would like to thank Cairnsmore staff for their care and compassion during her stay.

Josie attended Chemainus Pentecostal Tabernacle.  She loved the Lord and very much enjoyed singing praise and worship songs.  She attended Bible Studies and was always brimming over with questions.

Josie loved entertaining, especially skits or humorous songs that made people laugh, because she thought there was not enough laughter in this world.

A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 531 Herbert St., Duncan, on Thursday, November 2 @ 2 pm, Pastor Boyd Tremblett, Chemainus Pentecostal, presiding.

Please no cards or flowers.  Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Association.
