We are sad to announce the passing of Lawrence LaFortune on July 16, 2016 after a long battle with aggressive cancer. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his two sons Kevin (Jennifer) and Nick (Kristi), Four awesome grandchildren - Owen (dude), Sophia (squeaker), Brooke (little one), and Kody (dig, dig), and Gloria LaFortune, his ex-wife and friend. Born and raised in Duncan, BC, he was a life long resident. His ancestors were among the first settlers of LaFortune Road. Throughout his life, Lawrence obtained a sheet metal certificate, became a life long member of the Duncan Eagles, and passed on his love for equipment to his sons. But for Lawrence, there was nothing better than driving in the cab of a truck. For the past 10 years he drove truck for GT Excavating, making sure to start his day with a good chat with Pete Butler. He was always proud of the days when any one of the grandkids would ride along side him - just to have a ride in grandpa’s dump truck.

We would like to thank Dr. Szabo, Dr. Masuda, Dr. Neilson, all the home support staff and nurses, and the BC Cancer Agency for their continued support throughout dads care and treatment.

We would also like to thank HW Wallace Cremation and Burial Centre for taking care of all the arrangements.

There is no service by request, instead a donation may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation. We will be having a celebration of life for Lawrence on his birthday, Saturday September 24 at the Cobblestone Pub in Cobble Hill from 2-4pm.
