November 8, 1926, - August 19, 2017

Mercifully, on August 19, 2017, Margery slipped away to join the love of her life, her late husband, Jack Sterling.

Marge was born in Salmo, B.C., on November 8, 1926, the youngest child in a family with three older brothers. Marge survived her brothers, leaving her nieces Susan Barter and Janie Cawley and nephew Ross Cawley surviving her.

After attending Vancouver Normal School, Marge had a full career as a school teacher and school librarian in Vancouver. On summer holidays and weekends, Marge and Jack spent time on their boat “Pound Sterling” travelling between West Vancouver, Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. Marge often said these were the best years. On retirement, Marge and Jack built a home in Cobble Hill, where they had many happy years together.

Marge was very social, enjoying her bridge groups and being with friends. Strong-willed and independent, Marge liked things her way, and she managed that very well.

Thank you to the Unique Home Healthcare team who enabled Marge to live “independently” longer at home. Thank you to Dr. Gilbert and the staff at Cowichan & District Hospital and Cairnsmore Place – Marge was treated with the care and respect anyone would wish for herself.

At Marge’s request, there will be no memorial service. Her favourite charities were the Cowichan & District S.P.C.A. and The Cowichan & District Hospital Foundation.
