Nonie passed away surrounded by family at Cowichan District Hospital, after health complications. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 55 years, Jim, sons; Kenn (Brian), Mike (Sandi), and nephew Randy (Michelle).

“Nan” was a beloved Grandmother and a Great Aunt to Megan, Hannah, Liam, Allen, Bronwyn, Katie, Emily and many more family and friends.

Predeceased by her brother David Lewers, mother Betty White (nee Peck) and father Gordon Lewers.

Nonie was born in Vancouver and moved to Cowichan Bay as a toddler, where she resided for the rest of her life. Mom fondly remembered playing tag on the log booms with her brother David and friends, and “Bums up Fishing” off the docks. Nonie was raised in one of the homes on the pilings in the bay and helped her mother in Pecks General Store.

Nonie was best remembered having a child on her lap or sitting beside one while helping them to read or write. She worked for many years as a teacher’s aid for the Cowichan School District. Her Grandchildren and Grandnieces loved for her to read, and spent countless hours listening to her stories.

In dispute mom was considered to be the best fisherman in the family, but undisputed was by far the best cook.

We’d like to thank Angela and the Dr’s and staff at Cowichan District Hospital for their compassion. Nonie did not wish a service. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation.
