With sadness we announce the death of our mother, Pat Crockett. She was the youngest of a pioneer Alberni Valley family. After completing secretarial training in Vancouver, Mom worked in the Public Service before joining the RCAF Women’s Division and returned to the Public Service in 1945. She married Fred in 1947 and travelled to New Zealand in the 1950’s where Fred is acknowledged for creating the first pulp and paper in that country. Returning to Canada, they located in Crofton and became active in numerous community organizations. In retirement, our parents were BC SENIOR GAMES gold medalists and travelled extensively in the Pacific Basin, Europe and elsewhere. Fred died in 2007. Pat is survived by her sons Fred Jr., (Ricki), Malcolm, John (Twyla) and daughter, Cynthia (Philippe). Grandsons, James, Paul, Andre and Bryan, great-grandson, Jack. Sisters-in-law, Alice and Mildred and numerous nieces and nephews. Pat’s funeral will be held Friday, October 14th at 2:00 pm at St. Peter’s Quamichan, 5800 Church Road, Duncan, V9L 5M8, Rev. Sandra Hounsell-Drover, officiating.
