Richard passed away April 28th, 2017 after a brave battle with cancer. He was born September 23, 1953 in Victoria, BC. After living his first few years in Nanaimo, the family moved to Duncan and then to a small farm in Cowichan Station, where he was raised with his nine brothers and sisters. After graduation, he worked a short time at the Empress in Victoria before joining the Canadian Navy in 1972. After five years in the Navy he moved to Calgary and became an Electrican, working there until he returned to Victoria in 1990. He remained in Victoria working at various locations including Kitimat and Fort MacMurray. Richard is predeceased by his parents, Howard and Phyllis, his sister Clare and niece Saresha. He is survived by his twin Steve (Laurie),brothers Mike (Louise), Brian, Bill (Mary), Rob (Becky) and his sisters, Lynne (Grant ), Anne (Orval) and Joan. Also numerous nieces and nephews.The family would like to thank Dr. Fitzgerald for her compassion and guidance through this difficult journey. Also thanks to the community nursing team, Beacon Services and Victoria Hospice. There will be a service and family gathering held at a later date.
