Richard Mark Doney

October 14, 2017

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Mark Doney on Saturday, October 14th 2017 after a courageous battle with gastrointestinal cancer. Richard passed peacefully surrounded by family at Cowichan District Hospital.

He is predeceased by his father Richard Francis Doney of Duncan and his mother Ruth Doreen Doney of Cowichan Bay.

He leaves to mourn his loving partner Glynn M. Morrissey, son Brian (Amy), daughter Danielle (Kyle), sisters Denise and Mona (Scott), special neice and nephew Colleen and Corey, and adored grandsons Logan and Bryson, as well as a large circle of friends and family.

Richard was born and lived his life within the beautiful Cowichan Valley. Much of his youth was spent outdoors camping, fishing and hunting with his family. He never lost his passion for the outdoors and enjoyed camping and backpacking with his children later in life. He was an avid gardener and landscaper and spent many happy hours working or puttering in the garden. Richard loved his family, his dogs Keeha and Mindy, and his adoring partner Glynn. Richard will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed.

A special thank you to Dr. Roy Gilbert, Dr. J.P. McGee, Dr. Andrea Wilheim, nurses and the oncology team of the BC Cancer Clinic in Victoria, Cowichan Hospice and the health care team at the Cowichan District Hospital.

Your dedication to Richard's well being is very much appreciated and will be a source of comfort in the future.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held on Sunday, October 22nd, 2017 at The Hub, 2375 Koksilah Rd. in Cowichan Station at 1 pm.

Flowers are graciously accepted, however please consider a donation to the PET/CT Scan Fund at the BC Cancer Clinic in Victoria.
