Vic Clarke

June 1, 2015

Vic was born in Leicester, England.

An accomplished Joiner, he built the furniture in his parent’s house. Played rugby for the Leicester Tigers. Joined the Air Cadets. Learned to fly in Canada, and onto Air Sea Rescue in Scotland. Vic was part of Radar in the Top Secret days, when he met Joan and married for life. Bahrain seconded to Imperial Airways as a station manager. An Air Traffic control officer at Heathrow when the tower was a “Wooden Shack.” On to Kenya with Joan, where they added Grahame and Chris to the family. Transferred to Hong Kong to escape the uprising. Built many boats and introduced the family to the sailing and boating life. Retired early at 55 and moved to Maple Bay. Built another boat and loved pottering on it at the Yacht Club.

Loss of hearing and dementia took its toll and lead to a slow decline. He was a gentle man, always quick with a smile and a “Chop, Chop” to the staff at Cairnsmore and Chemainus Health Centre.

He is fondly remembered by his family and friends.
