Wouter “Pup” Van Hell, 92, of Duncan, BC, died May 7th 2017. He was predeceased by his wife Jacoba “Coby”, son Jerry, and daughter Diny, and is survived by daughter Yvonne, and sons Walter (Sonia), Henry (Jill Purves) and Ben. He will be sadly missed by Karen Leeman, Lynda Everts, John Kuiper and Mike Chester; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends. As a young man, Pup served as a sergeant in the Dutch army before emigrating to Canada with his new bride, Coby. He worked hard all his life, and enjoyed hiking, hunting and tending his large garden during his free time. He was an avid fan of nature and wildlife and loved spending time outdoors. A true character, with an unshakeable sense of right and wrong, Pup lived a full and independent life right to the end. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday May 13th at First Memorial Funeral Services. Donations in his memory may be made to the local food bank of your choice.
