On November 29, 2016 we said goodbye to a loving husband, wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a great friend, Bill Mattin.

Bill is predeceased by his parents, Harry & Mable Mattin, his sons Lawrence (1950) and Daniel (2008), sister Bonnie and brothers Ron, Pete & Bob.

Bill is survived by his wife, Dorothy, daughters Wendy (Larry) and Teresa, sons Chris (Linda), Billy (Sherry), Glenna, 12 grandkids and 16 great-grandkids.

Bill was born in Duncan, BC and raised in Cowichan Station in the family home called “The Ranch” on Riverside Rd. Bill married the love of his life, Dorothy, in May, 1947 and they enjoyed 69 wonderful years together.

As a teenager, Bill began logging with his

family and his love of the industry carried on throughout his lifetime. He was known by

family, friends and co-workers as a very

proud and quiet man. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. When Bill gave you his word, you knew you could count on it. Bill was proud that he shared his passion for working in the woods with his sons and grandsons and they were honoured to work with their dad until he retired.

The most important thing in life to Bill was his family. He shared a special bond with his girls, Wend and Tess. He loved all the family gatherings, watching the kids play, and talking about old times. We will miss his sense of humor, his hugs and his advice. The wealth of love, knowledge and wisdom that Dad shared with us will last forever and will be passed down for generations to come. He was definitely “one of a kind”.

“Love You Always and Forever”

There will be a casual, informal gathering at “The Hub” in Cowichan Station on Sunday, December 18th, 2016.

Everyone is welcome to join the family for an afternoon of great stories and laughter, drop in any time between 1:30 - 4:30pm.
