Yvonne Gunhild Nimmo
Yvonne Gunhild Nimmo (nee Olson) passed away as she lived - with amazing grace - on October 31, 2017 in Burnaby, BC.
She was predeceased by her parents, Bror and Clara, and by her daughter Catherine Mary Malcolm.
She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Helga (Ken) Irving, LeRoy Olson, Larry (Mary) Olson, husband Dick, children Brent (Jennifer) Malcolm, Carrie (Tom Gould), Rod, and Kirsten (Todd) Harkins, beloved grandchildren Nicklas, Jansen, Jonas, Regan, Markus and Adam, and many special nieces and nephews who were dear to her heart.
Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Yvonne received a Bachelor of Education at the University of Victoria and raised her family in Lake Cowichan, BC. As a kind and compassionate teacher, Yvonne taught her students, and all those around her, how to face challenges with integrity and treat others with dignity and respect.
After retiring, Yvonne moved to White Rock and enjoyed doing things she loved most: spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren, gardening, researching family history, and travelling throughout North America, Europe, and even Australia.
A Celebration of Life was held at 1 pm, Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Surrey, BC, where for many years Yvonne was a devoted member of the congregation. Pastor Peter Hanson, who was thankfully with Yvonne to offer comfort during her final moments, officiated.
Yvonne's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Normanna Care Home, and Luz Bornilla, for their compassionate care.
