Directors should give up salaries from election run

Sometimes it’s fun to read the letters, and Mr. Dumont’s letter was that.

The fact that the councillors/directors that ran in the last election could perform their existing job AND “run” can’t be equated to the work of volunteers — appearances have to be attended and oversight accomplished. He is correct, they should rip up their cheques on principle.

They cannot say they could do both, because that would mean they are overpaid for their “regular” duties and that would reflect badly on their co-councillors/public servants (hee hee).

The fact that they did all that work to get elected must mean that they neglected their already surprisingly heavy work load that they perform daily, therefore the ratepayer did not get their money’s worth due to their NON-performance.

Perhaps they should…figure it out, by asking the public what they want in return for their absence?

(I’m voting for a barbecue. With free beer.)
