Donnay decision undemocratic

Where has democracy gone in North Cowichan?

The interest shown in the change of zoning for Donnay Drive resulted in five per cent in favour of the change and 95 per cent against, yet mayor and council voted to approve the change. This is not democracy.

The five per cent in favour had only a financial interest and gain in the change. The 95 per cent against had no financial gain. Their interest was in the preservation of what has always been regarded as a beautiful rural area; an area that people would drive through for the pleasure of the surroundings. The preservation of the safe ecology of Quamichan Lake is vital.
