Furstenau could be best MLA ever

With the provincial election just around the corner, we need to choose our next MLA wisely.

In this election it is anyone’s guess which party will form the next provincial government, with a minority government being a distinct possibility. Therefore, the ability to achieve desired outcomes by building relationships across party lines is essential. We also need someone with perseverance and the ability to bring people together. Sonia Furstenau represents all of the above, backed by a supportive party that will not let politics restrict her voice. This is a recipe for our best MLA ever.

The contaminated soil fiasco at Shawnigan Lake has been a showcase of Sonia’s perseverance, conviction and extraordinary ability to bring people together, to build community and relationships.

It is also a textbook example of what can happen when a provincial Liberal government prioritizes industrial activity over a community’s well-being while the opposition NDP MLA remains curiously silent, presumably due to political interference.

The choice for Cowichan Valley MLA is clear.

Leader or follower?

In the BC Legislature: just another bum in the seat — a spectator who yields to the party whip, or a master collaborator who is free from political interference?

Elect Sonia Furstenau for our best MLA ever.
