I live a full life here under my rock

I have heard of Underwood typewriters, Bryant and Mays matches, Dallas, Texas, and Bentley luxury cars.

I have just crawled out from under the rock I’ve been living under for the past decade to confess, in longhand cursive writing, that I have never heard of Carrie Underwood, Chase Bryant, Dallas Smith or Dierks Bentley. These sound like made-up names from a cowboy novel.

I have heard of Underwood typewriters, Bryant and Mays matches, Dallas, Texas, and Bentley luxury cars.

I listen to CBC Radio One (not the mutilated Radio Two). I watch CBC TV Newsworld and Knowledge Network T.V. I am well-informed about current affairs and live a rich and interesting life.

I have heard of Mozart, Haydn, Elgar, Bach, Verdi, Chopin, Copeland and many other dead musicians whose music still delights.

Make sure you buy your subscriptions to the coming Cowichan Symphony Society 61st season of concerts.

Now, I’ll crawl back under my rock-of-shame and put a Dolly Parton LP on my 1972 dual turntable.
