Thank you for the article about the funny, spiny exotic plant, and the photo. This very plant started in one of my vegetable fields this summer.
I thought perhaps it was a squash, and let it go, just to see — it was interesting looking and pretty. But then it developed burrs! Oh man, very bad. I pulled it and bagged it for burning. Now I know what it was, and will be on the lookout.
It was a single plant, probably spread via bird. I’m on Koksilah, right near the highway. Thank you for this public service of keeping us informed.
