Punishing transit users not the answer

Re: Cowichan Valley Regional District removing two bus shelters

Because of complaints about the actions of a few of unhoused individuals, the CVRD has decided to remove bus shelters thereby forcing transit users to wait for buses while exposed to the elements.

Once again the authorities have decided without public consultation to preemptively take the easiest course of action, ignoring, disregarding or downplaying the impact on the citizenry who utilize these facilities.

Punishing the transit users to resolve a problem not of their making is just plain lazy decision making.

Other solutions (such as utilizing having bylaw enforcement officers or police to move people along) should be considered and tried before removing shelters that were installed to keep transit users out of the weather
