Look at racetrack expansion through climate lens
Thank you Keith Simmonds for writing a thought provoking letter regarding the expansion of the racetrack in North Cowichan.
This is the perfect opportunity for North Cowichan council to act on the climate emergency that they have acknowledged we are in. The motion which was passed on July 17, 2019 states that it will “provide clarity of our intention to look at all applicable decisions through a climate lens”. This emergency was acknowledged by a majority of council members. There are many, many reasons why this racetrack should not increase in size but I think if a decision is made by looking through the “climate lens” the answer is obvious.
It’s a good question Keith, if the expansion of this racetrack is approved, who are we?
