More needle disposal needed

Monday morning I am out with my dog for our usual walk. We walk through the path seperating Duncan Yard Works and North Cowichan. This is the first time I have noticed a needle, lying directly in my path.

I just couldn’t leave it there. Luckily, I had Kleenex in my pocket and picked it up. Being a frequent dog walker through this area, I knew there was a sharps disposal container at McAdam Park. Instead of doing the dike walk, we turned off down Wharncliffe to McAdam Park and disposed of the needle.

I must say, this really disturbed me. There used to be a sharps container at the head of the dike but was moved to McAdam Park. So, what is the answer? Do we need more sharps containers, or do we need personal aluminum containers to dispose of the needles if and when we see them. To leave them lying there, I believe, is irresponsible.
