NDP wasting money on Malahat alternative report

Past coalition governments in B.C. improved the Sea to Sky Highway, built the Coquihalla Highway, built the Vancouver Convention Centre, built Sky Train, built a new Port Mann Bridge, built the Golden Ears Bridge, construction of Site C dam, built B.C. Place Stadium, built the South Perimeter Road and the Alex Fraser Bridge, and widened Highway 1 in metro Vancouver to eight lanes.

Past NDP governments in B.C. built Fast Cat ferries, that they were advised not to build, but did, did build the inland Vancouver Island freeway, at cost of $50 million more than the Coquihalla Highway cost, because of the NDP wage payment policy, and presently have stalled on decision making of whether to replace the present George Massey tunnel or build a bridge. What the NDP has approved is a brand new four-lane Pattullo bridge. You would think that a six-lane bridge would be more convenient for present day traffic congestion.

The latest NDP boondoggle is to issue a contract to a consulting company by the end of March to prepare a report on an alternative route to the Malahat, improving existing back roads to use ONLY when the Malahat is closed. The report will be due in one year. A complete waste of time and money, as the back roads will still be gravel roads, which everyone would have to travel at a snail’s pace.

The solution is to get rid of the Mill Bay Ferry, and build a bridge to the Saanich peninsula NOW! Pure common sense cost wise to the taxpayer dollars. It would happen in any other country. Makes you really wonder, why B.C. once again let the NDP manage their tax dollars, a government that has raised taxes with no agenda to build B.C. with infrastructure projects. A proven point of why Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia, and soon to be Alberta, said once and for all goodbye to NDP governments. Unbelievable!
