Potential of oil spill is too high

I would like to remind everyone that lives in the Cowichan Valley, that an oil spill of any kind will foul our beaches, for years.

Think of those tremendous afternoons on the sand at Cherry Point. Except, following a spill, you won’t be able to take in the salt air, just the odour of the chemicals killing the sea and its many families. The eagles, the gulls, starfish and clams, the harbour seals and porpoise, all gone.

Let us not forget the Exxon Valdez event. Over 1,400 kilometres of beaches in Prince William Sound are still fouled with oil. They will never be cleaned. And neither will Cherry Point.
