Puzzled by concern over Motorsport expansion

Reports tend to be shallow on who is really affected by noise from the Motorsport Circuit on the highway to Lake Cowichan.

The settlement area quoted by media covers a large area, most of which is far from the highway and often screened by trees. I can see some houses near the highway, but media does not specify them.

I recall that some noise measurements showed helicopters following the highway and trucks on it was quite noisy. (I presume single engine helicopters follow the highway to have a landing spot if their engine resigns. I doubt there are many helicopters, but expect frequent trucks given logging near Lake Cowichan.)

I’m puzzled as to why an expansion back in the bush away from the highway is such a concern. And why the cars are so noisy — aren’t they supposed to be streetable?

Yes, I am a furriner from Saanich, one who wants to see automotive facilities, and the income benefits to the area. I am not a friend of, nor a fan of, the dealership group building the circuit.
