The CVRD taxpayer wish list

The CVRD requested that their staff put together a “wish list” that strips the CVRD taxpayer of even more of their hard earned money through increased taxes. Having read their wish; I’ve decided to put together my wish list for taxpayer consideration:

1. That not one of the existing CVRD directors be re-elected

2. That the new CVRD directors place the CVRD taxpayer “standard of living” (reducing taxes) at the top of their priority list

3. That the CVRD directors disclose on the CVRD website their entire compensation package received from the CVRD taxpayer

4. That the CVRD directors leave provincial responsibilities, such as water, with the province instead of attempting to take that responsibility from the province only to place it (and all the associated costs) on the shoulders of the CVRD taxpayer

5. That the salaried staff of the CVRD be reduced by 50 per cent

6. That all vehicles used by the CVRD be leased

7. That the CVRD reduce existing staff by 30 per cent

8. That a comparison study (labor costs i/c benefits, time and material) of work completed by the CVRD labour pool be compared to work done in the private sector. This study to be completed by an independent third party and all results released to the public

Obviously the CVRD is not interested in the taxpayers’ suggestions. They ask their employees to find work that will keep themselves busy.

Since this is only my wish list, I’m sure other CVRD taxpayers would probably want to add their items as well.
