I want to thank all those who helped my friend who collapsed in a downtown Duncan restaurant on June 8.
We were having a quiet dinner when suddenly she fell to the floor, unconscious. I screamed that I need help here. Immediately, an off-duty paramedic, doctor and former work colleague who all happened to be in the restaurant rushed to her aid.
The ambulance crew and the emergency room doctor, nurses, lab technicians and staff at the Duncan hospital were amazing and very professional.
This story has a happy ending as my friend of 46 years is OK. Despite healthcare budget cutbacks, we still have an amazing medical system.
As is the Island way, we also do look after our own.
