Arbutus Ridge Golf Club is participating in Women’s Golf Day next Tuesday (June 6), with proceeds going to the Cowichan Women Against Violence Society.

The club is taking part in a global event that encourages women and girls to try golf for the first time, while experienced golfers can play and engage with women interested in the sport.

Starting at 4 p.m., the four-hour event begins with a social gathering, and teaching professional Jody Jackson will be available for the first hour to answer any questions about golf. After that, the group will be divided into beginners and more experienced golfers for further instruction. The experienced group will head out on the course for a few holes, while the beginners will stay at the practice facility to learn some fundamentals. The evening will conclude with more social time.

“Arbutus Ridge Golf Club is celebrating girls and women playing golf,” club general manager Richard Ingle said. “We are proud to be part of this world-wide movement to highlight the game of golf to women regardless of whether they have played before. We are also especially proud to be raising money for the Cowichan Women Against Violence Society. Their Somenos Transition House program is an important support mechanism for local women and we are honoured to have them as our chosen charity for this event.”

The cost of the event is $29. Visit www.womensgolfday.com to register, or call Arbutus Ridge Golf Club at 250- 743-5000.
