Brothers Brandon and Tory McClintick represented the Kerry Park Islanders at the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League Prospects Game in Campbell River last Sunday.

The McClinticks and Team South ended up on the losing side of a 3-2 final score as former Cowichan Valley bantam player Dawson Frank scored the decisive goal four minutes and 25 seconds into overtime.

The South took a 2-0 lead into the third period, with Brandon McClintick earning an assist on the South’s second goal. Brandon was injured in overtime when his skate caught an edge as he returned to the bench and he went head-first into the boards. He missed Kerry Park’s game against the Victoria Cougars on Tuesday as a result.

Brandon, a 17-year-old forward in his second year with the Isles, has five goals, 14 assists and 57 penalty minutes in 27 games this season. He has also been called up to the Victoria Grizzlies for one BCHL game as an AP. Defenceman Tory, 16, is the youngest regular on the Kerry Park roster this year, and has compiled one goal, seven assists and four penalty minutes in 31 games.

A third Kerry Park player, Braydon Nelson, was scheduled to play in the Prospects Game, but was handed a suspension for “harassment of officials” during the Islanders’ game on Saturday, and had to sit out Sunday’s game.

In addition to Frank, the North team also included Cowichan Valley Minor Hockey products Luc Wilson, Dylan Hartl and Derek Krall, all currently playing with the Nanaimo Buccaneers.
