Cow High junior girls finish third at provincial qualifier

Cowichan Secondary’s junior girls basketball team looked once again like a contender last weekend as they finished third at the Brookswood Provincial Qualifying Tournament in Langley.

The Thunderbirds blew past R.C. Palmer 51-21 in their opening game, getting 14 points apiece from Alyssa Klotz and Mackenzie Hall, and 12 from Tayah Poole.

Poole paced Cowichan with 17 in the team’s second game as they were edged 35-33 by host Brookswood. Hall added seven points, and Eden Funk chipped in with five.

The T-Birds bounced back to beat Argyle 39-28 in the bronze-medal match. Poole had 19 to hit double digits for the third game in a row, while Hall and Klotz had six apiece.
