DCS Chargers stir up the sand

Beach volleyball players from Duncan Christian School proved competitive at the Island high school championships in Parksville earlier this month.

Matt Brandsma and Adam Kapteyn finished fourth and Mike Brandsma and Malachi Wall placed ninth in a field of 24 senior boys teams. Mollie Corbett and Jaymie Brandsma finished fifth out of 20 midget girls teams.

Minseok Kim and Nick Harder also teamed up to represent DCS in the senior boys competition, and Kearra McCormick and Tansey Sampson also played in the midget girls bracket in their first-ever beach tournament.

The DCS teams were coached by Roz Campbell and Jim Brandsma.
