Exhibition games just weeks away, Capitals host four preseason games

All Island rivals will visit the Island Savings Centre

The Cowichan Valley Capitals will play host to every one of their Island Division rivals during the B.C. Hockey League exhibition season.

The Caps open preseason play in less than three weeks when they visit the Victoria Grizzlies at Juan de Fuca Arena on Aug. 24. That’s the team’s only road date as they play the next four exhibition games at home.

The Caps host the Grizzlies on Aug. 25, the Powell River Kings on Aug. 27, the Nanaimo Clippers on Aug, 29 and the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Aug. 31.

The regular season begins on Saturday, Sept. 9 when the Caps again host the Clippers, kicking off a three-game homestand. The Powell River Kings visit on Sept. 16, and the Coquitlam Express are in town on Sept. 17.

The Caps’ first games away from Island Savings Centre will be at the Bauer BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack. On Sept. 20 they are the “home” team when they face the West Kelowna Warriors, and on Sept. 21, they are “away” against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

The Caps play the other four Island Division teams eight times each during the regular season, and all the other teams twice, with the exception of West Kelowna and Salmon Arm, who they face three times each, including the Showcase games. The Caps will be on the Island for the last 15 dates of the 58-game season, including 12 at home. They will play their last three games at home, including the regular-season finale against Surrey Eagles on Saturday, Feb. 24.

All Capitals games are broadcast live on 89.7 Juice FM and hockeytv.com pay-per-view.
