Island duo takes TKO title at SCLTC

The young Vancouver Island pairing of Jared Martin and Hannah Sulz won the last tournament of the season.

One of the 39 teams entered in the Kay Wilson Mixed Doubles TKO tournament serves to their opponents.

The young Vancouver Island pairing of Jared Martin and Hannah Sulz won the last tournament of the season at the South Cowichan Lawn Tennis Club.

Martin, a 26-year-old from Victoria, and Sulz, a 21-year-old from Qualicum Beach, prevailed in the Kay Wilson Mixed Doubles Triple Knockout tournament on Aug. 19-21 ahead of the second-place duo of Geoff Bourne and Carolyn Goff. Martin and Sulz entered the tournament as the second seed, while Bourne and Goff were seeded first out of the 39 entries.

Tied for third place were the teams of Al and Donna Folster and Nick O’Callaghan and Vera Butkova.
