Jordan Robert scored two goals, including the game-winner, and added an assist as the Cowichan Valley Capitals doubled up the Nanaimo Clippers 4-2 at the Island Savings Centre on Friday night to end a four-game losing streak.

Robert opened the scoring with a powerplay marker in the second period, and popped in the deciding goal, also on the man advantage, with five and a half minutes left in the third period. He also assisted on linemate Brady Lynn’s powerplay goal at 4:44 of the third, which tied the game at 2-2. Preston Brodziak added an empty-netter in the final minute of play.

Former Cap Ethan Scardina scored a powerplay goal for Nanaimo late to make it 1-1 late in the second period, and the Clippers also scored early in the third to hold a brief one-goal lead.

Recent acquisition Pierce Diamond made his first home start in goal for Cowichan and stopped 20 of 22 shots. Landon Pavilisin turned aside 37 of the 40 shots the Caps at the other end of the rink.

The Caps are back in action at home on Sunday afternoon when they play host to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks at 2 p.m.
