Strong showings for Cowichan field hockey teams

It has been a successful couple of weekends for Cowichan teams in the Vancouver Island Ladies Field Hockey League.

It has been a successful couple of weekends for Cowichan teams in the Vancouver Island Ladies Field Hockey League.

On Oct. 29, the Cowichan Flickers beat the Mariners 1-0 in their Div. 1 game on a goal by Teresa Gregus. In Div. 2, the Cowichan Cardinals got scoring from Ashlyn Toljander and Chloe Langkammer as they defeated the Sailors 2-1. The lone defeat came in Div. 3 where the Cowichan Kestrels were edged 1-0 by the Oak Bay Devils.

The Kestrels got a pair of wins this past weekend, downing the Pirates 4-0 and Lynx III 2-0. Hayley Picard scored three times against the Pirates and once against the Kestrels, while Jill Thompson had the other goal against the Pirates and Alexa Thomas also scored against Lynx III.

Picard added a goal for the Cardinals in their 4-0 win over the Cowichan Swifts in Div. 2. Also scoring for the Cardinals were Birkley Anderson, Karey Fiege and Kyla Birch.

Finally, in Div. 1, Kyla Toljander and Sara Goodman scored as the Cowichan Flickers tied Lynx I 2-2.
