Valley high schools hosting university games

UVic hoops at Cow High, VIU volleyball at DCS

Cowichan Valley high schools are preparing to host collegiate-level basketball and volleyball games.

This Friday (Sept. 22) Cowichan Secondary School is hosting the UVic Vikes women’s basketball team for an intrasquad game. The event starts at 6 p.m.

On Tuesday, Oct. 3, Duncan Christian School will be the scene of an exhibition game between the VIU Mariners and Camosun Chargers women’s volleyball team. DCS 2017 grad Danielle Groenendijk will return to her high school gym as a member of the VIU team. The match starts at 7 p.m., with the DCS girls playing Lake Cowichan at 5 p.m.

DCS hosted the VIU men’s volleyball team, including alumni Adam Kapteyn and Doug Groenendijk, for an exhibition match against Camosum on Sept. 20.
