35th annual Hector McIntosh speech contest on May 15

Superb young public speakers face off in the 35th annual Hector McIntosh speech competition.

The Rotary Club of Duncan is holding the finals of its 35th annual Hector McIntosh Public Speaking competition for students from the Cowichan Valley district on Monday, May 15 at 7 p.m. at the Ramada Inn.

There are four categories: Grades 4-6; Grades 7-8; Grades 9-10; and Grades 11-12.

For anyone interested in public speaking or helping young people present themselves with confidence as they enter the adult world, this event is an inspiration.

The young speakers step up with a flair and assurance that is astonishing to the many adults who say they would rather die than speak in public.
