Villa Eyrie Resort was voted most romantic getaway for this year's Best of the Valley.
Villa Eyrie Resort first got its start on the Malahat in 1984 when original owner Maria Schuster first visited Vancouver Island and fell in love with the area and felt the Saanich views reminded her of Lake Como in Italy. Schuster first opened The Aerie in 1991 as a Bed and Breakfast and it saw much growth over the years. After closing in 2019 and remaining vacant for some years, it celebrated its grand opening as the new Villa Eyrie Resort in 2016, once again becoming an ideal romantic destination for couples to get away to.
"It feels so great to win Best of the Valley," said resort sales manager Samantha Johnson. "We always like to say that we are the destination for romantic getaways here in the Cowichan Valley. We get a lot of locals here as well as visitors from Victoria, across the island, the mainland and from far and wide.
